Jonglei State Block B2 Survey

The Block B2 Aerial Geophysical Survey in Jonglei State stands as one of South Sudan’s most significant exploration initiatives and the largest geophysical survey ever conducted in the country, covering approximately 47,000 square kilometres within the highly prospective Muglad-Melut Rift Basin system. Executed by South Sudan Geophysical Co. Ltd (SSGC) in partnership with Strategic Fuel Fund (SFF), Nile Orange, and Nile Petroleum Corporation (Nilepet), the project involved advanced airborne magnetic and gravity surveys aimed at mapping subsurface structures and identifying potential hydrocarbon reserves. Through successful mobilization and execution of this large-scale operation, SSGC demonstrated its national capability in complex exploration logistics and high-quality geophysical data acquisition, providing critical data now supporting future seismic programs and exploratory drilling activities in South Sudan.
